Frank’s Spinner Wrench is designed to make-up and break-out conductor pipe by performing the same task as a casing tong. It was created to dramatically lower tool weight and produce a safer work environment. With the Spinner Wrench, separate spinner and torque operations are used to make-up and break-out the casing.

 

The spinning operation utilizes three hydraulically driven rollers to rotate the pipe. Upon being clamped by the Spinner Wrench, the pipe is spun by the rollers to the shoulder up the connection. At this point, the torque operation is applied to reach the desired final torque.

 

The torque operation achieves the final torque through the use of three gripping jaws and a torque cylinder. With the Spinner Wrench still clamped to the pipe, the three jaws are activated to grip the pipe. The torque cylinder, attached between the snub post and the rear of the Spinner Wrench, then retracts and pulls the Spinner Wrench to apply the desired final torque to the connection.

 

To increase efficiency and safety, the Spinner Wrench is designed to operate remotely from a separate panel. One unique feature of the Spinner Wrench is that it clamps and centers itself on the pipe without the need for a door.
