Breech-Loc Connector
|
Frank's DDS Breech-Loc connector system uses the same thread pitch as its standard DDS connector. The standard DDS and the Breech-Loc connector ar einter changeable, allowing the pin and box to be made up to one another. The Breech-Loc connector, like the standard DDS connector, utilizes a low angle helix thread design that ensures a positive lock through torque and radial interference. Although this thread design eliminates the need for anti-rotation locking devices, a positive mechanical locking device is available upon request. The Breech-Loc connector design requires only one tenth of a turn to ensure full make-up. This connector can be made-up using either manual rig tongs or power tongs. This design was prompted for use in areas of the world where power tongs are not readily available. Breech-Loc connectors are fully drivable and can be driven using Diesel or Hydraulic Hammers. Like the standard DDS connector, all axial drive forces applied to the connector are transmitted through the mating shoulders and pin noses of the connector and not the threads. This reduces the possibility of thread damage and enhances the reuse of the connector.
