Frank’s system for Deviated Conductors provides an opportunity for placement of conductors in a predetermined direction and with a predicted direction and deviation at final penetration. This system offers previously unavailable advantages such as:
Early "Kick-Off” on deviated wells...The system can be modified during the fabrication to achieve between one and five degrees of offset per 100 feet of penetration as specified by the customer.
Predetermined orientation...The system provides a method of predetermining the "Kick-Off” direction of the conductor prior to installation.
Prevents conductor interference...The system allows new conductors to be driven without interference with existing or abondoned conductors from the same platform.
The Basic System: The system is designed for individual application based upon the following criteria:
Objective (deviation, dispersal, or drive-around)
Pipe size, thickness and grade
Degree of desired deviaiton
Soil data and driveability
Type of joint connections
Guide diameter and location (if applicable)
Once the design is made, the shoe is fabricated by Frank’s to exact standards which include zero tolerance for side deviation. The rest of the string is marked for orientation monitoring according to established guidelines.
Frank’s experience has developed a driving program for use with the DEVIATED CONDUCTOR SYSTEM to optimize results.
The DEVIATED CONDUCTED SYSTEM uses the existing guide templates of the platform without the need of special "offset” guides. Deviation begins right at mud-line penetration.
The system uses standard conductor pipe eliminating the need for special "pre-curved” pipe.
Frank’s system for DEVIATED CONDUCTORS has been used on over 700 slots around the world, including the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, West Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Middle East and the Mediterranean.
