Offshore Energy Center Honors Frank Mosing - Tuesday, August 21, 2007
(HOUSTON, TX) August 21, 2008 -- Frank Mosing (1904-1988), founder of Frank’s Casing Crew & Rental Tools, Inc. is to be inducted into the Offshore Energy Center’s (OEC) "Offshore Pioneers Hall of Fame” on September 15, 2007, along with five other industry pioneers and five pioneering technologies. The ceremony will precede this year’s "Ocean Star” Gala at the Westin Galleria Hotel, Houston, TX.

Mosing grew up during the Oklahoma oil boom where he worked as a pipe layer. Later he moved his family to Lafayette, Louisiana and together with his three brother in-laws hired out as a team for running casing. They were called "Frank's Casing Crew."

The oil industry was growing and Mosing’s idea of using dedicated specialists for the handling of casing was catching on. In 1938, Frank and his wife, Jessie, formed Frank’s Casing Crew and Rental Tools, Inc. "Mister Frank,” as he became known around the oil patch, demonstrated he could save oil and gas companies both time and money, and more importantly, improve the safety of rig personnel. His vision, and commitment to serving customers with integrity, propelled the company through both the good and lean years. With superior experience, efficiency, service and safety, Mosing built a business that has lasted.
Now in its third generation, Mosing’s pioneering vision and spirit continue today under the capable guidance of his son, Donald Mosing and grandson Keith Mosing. Donald Mosing has since put strong emphasis on technical research, leading to development of hydraulic power tongs, pipe connectors, wellbore cleanup tools and data tracking systems that added efficiency and safety to company operations.
The other five pioneers include George Boyadjieff, Varco International (NOV); Jean Curutchet, Elf Aquitaine (TOTAL), Technip; Allan Martini, Chevron Corporation; Ronald McAdams, Shell Oil Company; and Andre Rey-Grange, Forex Neptune/Seamer International.
The pioneering technologies to be inducted into the Hall of Fame are Drilling Technology: Spiral Drill Collar; Production Technology: Concrete Gravity Structures; Forces of Nature: Wind, Wave & Current Hindcasting; Health, Safety & Environment: Zero Discharge Rigs; and Construction: Rig Building Shipyards.
OEC (Offshore Energy Center), Houston, TX proudly sponsors the "Ocean Star” Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum in Galveston, TX and the Offshore Pioneers Hall of Fame.
