(LAFAYETTE, LA) February 28, 2011 -- Frank’s Casing Crew is proud to announce that together with ExxonMobil, we have set an industry record on the 13 5/8” casing job on the Julia-2 well in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Julia-2 well was drilled to 24,599’ where we ran the 135/8” casing string to 24,500’ in 7,211’ of water. The 17,294’ of 13 5/8”, 88.2lbs/ft SLX casing string was run on 7,211’ of 6 5/8” H Z140 landing string at a total combined buoyed drill pipe and casing weight of 1.76M lbs. After successfully cementing the 13 5/8” casing, drilling operations in the 12 ¼” hole selection continued.
As of now, this has been the heaviest casing string run from a floating drilling rig for ExxonMobil as well as being an industry world record.
Following our core value for maintaining safety, we would like to note that the 13 5/8” casing preparations and running operations were accomplished with ZERO incidents or injuries. |
