QC Inspector

BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY

The  QC Inspector is expected to perform basic functions in the areas of weld and base metal inspection, review of material test reports, generation of document packages, welder and welding procedure qualification, and be generally aware of commonly used fabrication codes, standards, measuring & test equipment, welding processes, and NDE methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Assist the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Quality Assurance Coordinator in conducting internal and external audits, when required.
2. Assists in the maintenance of an effective system for the calibration of all inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
3. Assist in providing technical support in fabrication specifications, material joining, and quality related issues for the various divisions within Frank’s.
4. Monitor in-process work, ensuring that the products or services produced conform to Frank’s and/or customer specifications.
5. Review job files to ensure that all required documentation is contained within.
6. Demonstrates leadership by giving clear, complete, and accurate information on quality requirements, process standards, potential health and safety hazards, and potential process difficulties.
7. Ensure that vigorous investigations occur and appropriate action is taken when policies or approved procedures are not followed, when accidents or injuries occur, when nonconforming product or services are produced, or when customers complain about company products or service, advising the appropriate supervisor(s) as to what that appropriate action may be in the circumstances.
8. Ensure that appropriate follow up action is taken in the event of employee noncompliance, employee or contractor death, injury, mishap, near miss incident, environmental damage, product or service noncompliance, or customer complaint.
9. With Consensus of the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Quality Assurance Coordinator, the Quality Control Inspector has the authority to request the stoppage of any work process/activity that is in conflict with Frank’s Quality Assurance requirements.
10. This work can be physically demanding. These demands may be defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
11. Ability to climb stairs, perform lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, standing/bending tasks, and endure long hours in possible adverse weather conditions.
12. Perform NDE on equipment and components when instructed by the Maintenance / Equipment Inspection Supervisor and/or the Quality Coordinator.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Essential:

1. Experience in working within an organization with Quality Contol responsibilities or a combination of skill and/or experience acceptable to the department manager.
2. High level of understanding of Frank's equipment and services.
3. Able to work in remote locations, must be capable of normal movements of all limbs (4), and possess normal hearing and speech abilities.
4. Posses natural or corrected near distance acuity in at least one eye such that the applicant is capable of reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.
5. Experience in the use of inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Ability to liaise with third party inspectors.
8. Initiative in problem solving.
9. Responsible attitude toward work.
10. Conversant with Company Health and Safety Procedures, Company Policy and Procedures, and Environmental Policies.
11. Ability to work on projects individually, as part of a team, and/or act as a team leader.
12. Availability via pager or telephone, to respond to after-hours and weekend inquiries and emergencies from the field or other Frank’s facilities worldwide.
13. Able to travel via crew boat or helicopter to offshore locations.
14. Able to climb ladders and negotiate walkways, etc. as commonly found on oil and gas field rigs and production platforms through out the world.
15. A stable work history in this field, with previous experience as an employee of Frank’s as a factor.

Marginal: 

1. Familiarity with the heat treatment of steel alloys.
2. Familiarity with welding procedure development and qualification for structural steel weld ments.
3. Familiarity with nondestructive and destructive examination of materials.
4. Qualified to carry out both internal and external quality system assessments/audits.
5. Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
