Network Engineer
BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY
Provides advanced level support for network services such as maintaining servers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, communication equipment and storage arrays as well as assisting the IT department in the design and implementation of the Frank’s Worldwide network. Ensure the safe storage and archival of Frank’s data while maintaining a functional and reliable disaster recovery environment. Assist the Technical Support group with 3rd level support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Design, implement, and support network technologies to include Dell, VMware, Checkpoint, Nortel, Mitel and Barracuda hardware.
• Assist with the support of field sites and their local networks and their connections to the Frank’s network.
• Monitor and maintain all remote access and WAN connections to support field site connectivity.
• Assist with the administration of Active Directory
• Assist with the administration of Microsoft Exchange
• Assist with the administration and maintenance of Digital and VOIP telephone systems.
• Configure and maintain SAN arrays and volumes.
• Provide 3rd level support for desktop issues when escalated from the support team
• Collaborate with other network staff to find solutions to complex networking issues.
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of custom programs such as Great Plains, Macola, and ADP as well as operating systems used.
• Interact with internal clients to resolve issues in a professional manner maintaining discretion.
• Assist with the inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies.
• Assist with the purchase of software, hardware and other IT supplies.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
• 5+ years of experience administrating and maintaining a corporate network including
o Layer 2 and layer 3 switches, Dell, and Cisco, preferred
o Routers, Cisco preferred
o Firewalls, Checkpoint and Cisco preferred
o VPN concentrators Nortel and Sonicwall preferred
o WAPs, Cisco, Sonicwall, and D-Link, preferred
• 5+ years of experience administrating Active directory and group policies
• 3+ years of experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server 2003, experience with server 2008 is a plus
• 3+ years of experience administrating E-Mail systems, Microsoft Exchange preferred
• Proficient with backup and restore technologies
• Experience with VMWare
• Familiar with iSCSI SAN technologies
• Expert level understanding of DNS and DHCP in a Windows environment
• Expert level understanding of VPN technology
• Understanding of corporate PABX technologies, digital and VoIP. Understanding of SIP is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent documentation skills
