Engineering Technician

Engineer Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Employee is to serve as a technician for the Engineering Dept.  The employee will work under the Operations Support group to provide technical support to various operational departments throughout the Frank’s organization.
2. Employee will serve as a liaison between the engineering, manufacturing, and operations departments.  In this capacity, he will assist the engineering department in tasks such as writing/updating service manuals, writing retrofit instructions, tracking retrofits of in-service equipment, initiating drafting revisions, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and similar tasks.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Essential
  
1. Employee must possess strong background in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including familiarity with system components, ability to read and interpret schematics, knowledge of assembly methods and practices, and troubleshooting.

2. Employee must have functional skills using computer for E-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, drafting, etc., such that he can independently generate layouts, reports, instruction documents to record and share technical information.

3. An engineering technician must be able to work, eat, and sleep in confined areas, be capable of normal movement of all four limbs, and possess normal hearing and speech abilities.  The technician will be responsible for being on call 24 hours a day.

Note:  As a condition of employment, it is suggested that the evaluation period for this job be extended from the normal 3 months to 6 months.  During the evaluation period, it is expected that the employee will demonstrate a working ability to perform all essential requirements.  The employee shall read correct behavior listing and the employee handbook.  MSDS information is also available per employee’s "right to know”.  

Marginal

1. Experience/Knowledge of oilfield drilling and completion systems.
2. Employee will be supervised during shop duties.  Employee will be expected to be highly autonomous when performing field duties as applicable.
3. Tools and Equipment of Job:
• Office Environment – Computer and related hardware.
• Shop/Field Environment – Tools involved will be simple hand tools.  Assistance will be available for more complex tools.

5. College Education – Industrial Technology (or equivalent) degree
