ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Creating and revising drawings in accordance with Frank’s standards while using the drafting software package employed by Frank’s.
2. Interfacing with shop personnel with regard to revisions, as-built drawings, and templates.
3. Assisting the controlling of drawings and related engineering documents.
4. Performs additional related duties as requested or required.
5. Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
6. Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
7. Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
8. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
9. Completes layouts, draws, and reproduces illustrations for references manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Essential
1. High School Diploma (or equivalent)
2. Certificate of Completion of Vocational-Technical Program (or a minimum of 1000 hours of training) in Computer Aided Drafting.
3. Successful completion of 3 months probationary employment in FRANK'S drafting group.
4. Ability to work on projects as an individual and as part of a team.
5. Ability to produce acceptable work on schedule.
6. Availability to respond to after-hours and weekend requirements.
7. Good communication skills in the English language using both the written and spoken word.
8. Competence in:
• General Math.
• The use of the computer operating system(s) in use by the drafting group within FRANK'S Engineering Department.
• Drafting with AutoCAD 2000 and Inventor 2011(or later releases) .
• Able to sit and work at the work station for two or more hours without interruption, for a total of eight to twelve hours per day.
• The use of Scales and Dial Calipers for measuring machined parts.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Marginal
1. Manufacturing experience is a plus.
2. A stable work history in this field, with previous experience as an employee of FRANK’S as a factor.
3. Previous mechanical drafting experience.
4. Valid Driver’s License.
5. Competence in:
• Installation and configuration of commercial software.
• The use of one or more word processing and spreadsheet applications currently in use by the drafting group within FRANK’S Engineering Department.
• Computer installation, diagnosis, and repair.
• Algebra and Trigonometry.
• Dimensioning and Tolerancing of parts and assemblies.
• The use of references such as standard specifications and practices.
