Dual Electric Power Unit

The dual electric power unit was constructed to satisfy the increasing demands for flexible power units with a high degree of reliablity. By using constant horsepower variable displacement pumps, a unit was constructed to satisfy the needs of casing tongs, tubing tongs and the Hawkjaw drill pipe tool. Reliability was increased by the use of two identical pump/motor combinations. Either pump can be used independently of the other in the event of a failure. Using both pumps, casing tongs can operate at full speed and achieve full torque. Using either pump independently allows casing tongs to achieve full torque at a reduced speed. The tubing tongs and Hawkjaw will run in normal mode with either pump. These units are in compliance with requirements set forth for Class 1, Division 1 locations. Oil Cooler Two pass air-cooler with an explosion proof electric motor. A Thermal Switch in the oil reservior activates the cooling fan. Start up temperature is 130 degrees F. The Cooler may be activated manually by using the three-way selector switch installed in the control panel door.
Hydraulic Oil Heater - A 6 KW immersion type oil heater with integral thermostat is mounted on the right lower corner of the oil reservior. Maximum thermostat setting is 100 degress F.
Hoses Two 50’ X 1” two wire braid hydraulic hoses with quick disconnect (female) coupling pressure. Two 50’ X 1 1/4” two wire braid hydraulic hoses with quick disconnect (male) coupling Return. One 50’ X 1” two wire braid hydraulic hose with quick disconnect coupling-Spare. 1 each - Return port for equipment case drain hoses.
Electrical Connections The unit is equipped with 100’ power cord and a remote start/stop pendant also with 100’ cord. The unit should be hooked to a 480V, 3 phase, 60 hz electrical supply by a qualified electrician.
Lifting Procedures - The dual electric power unit can be lifted with either a forklift truck or overhead crane with a 4-part sling. Each corner of the frame has a padeye drilled for a 7/8” shackle.
