RS-250 Rotary Spider

At Frank’s, safety always comes first.... Not only in the way we work, but also in the way we design equipment. The Frank’s RS-250 is no exception.

How is the Frank’s RS-250 Rotary Spider designed?
The RS-250 is designed to mount in the rotary table of the rig, replacing the Master Bushing, and is powered by the rig’s standard air supply. The tool fits into a standard API 27-1/2” Rotary Table, which allows for the main body of the tool to completely recess into the rotary table. The top cover and guides remain approximately 7-1/2” above the floor, making it a flush mount. What really makes this design unique is that it can run control lines along the tool string, and that it incorporates Frank’s patented Safety Interlock System.

How does the Frank’s RS-250 result in a safer work place? The RS-250 eliminates clutter on the rig floor because the majority of the tool is designed to recess into the large hole found in the center of the rig floor. By lowering the tool into the rotary table, the tong and elevator operators can now easily operate equipment without the need for special scaffolding that is typically required.

Can the Frank’s RS-250 Rotary Spider be used in all rotaries? The RS-250 can be used in rotaries with diameters as small as 27-1/2”, and with adapters can be used in larger rotaries. Other comparable tools can only be used in 37-1/2” or larger rotary openings.

How is the Frank’s RS-250 Rotary Spider installed? Frank’s Adapter Rings can be used to install the tool in National, Emsco, and Oilwell 37-1/2” tables, while still allowing the tool to remain flush with the rotary. Standard adapter rings can be used to install the tool in 37-1/2” and larger rotary tables.

What kind of jobs is the Frank’s RS-250 Rotary Spider best suited? The RS-250 can be used on casing, completion tubing, drill pipe, or it can be used with corrosion resistant tubing with Frank’s Reduced Penetration Slips & Inserts.
