Pressure Spider
|
Frank’s Pressure Spider was originally designed for the installation of externally coated tubulars where die penetration into the base metal was a concern. The pressure spider is currently being utilized to combat the recurring problem of "micro hardness", a thin crust that forms on the external surfaces of Hyper 13 chrome tubulars during the manufacturing process.
The pressure spider uses a uniquely designed hydraulically driven method of preloading the slips to ensure that an ample amount of die penetration is achieved. The system exerts 25 tons of downward force onto the slips, causing the dies to penetrate through the hard outer coating and into the base metal.
The tool can be operated with Frank's remote control panel or can be worked manually. Like most of Frank's handling equipment, the tool integrates with our interlock system to create a safer environment. The pressure spider ranges in size from 2 2/8" through 13 3/8".
